Q: What ages do you work with?

A:    I work primarily with students ranging from pre-kindergarten to high school. I also work with college students and adults in need of math help.

Q: What curriculum do you use?

A: I don’t use a specific curriculum. I see what the student is working on and start with the materials provided by their educator. From there, I’ll pull in supplemental materials, such as online worksheet pages, as well as activities I’ve created that will enhance the students’ learning.

Q: Your website says “Hands-on Help with Math and Science.” Do you tutor other subjects?

A: My strength is tutoring in math and science. During sessions, writing, reading, and comprehension skills will be strengthened, as well as other skills that go hand-in-hand with math and science. However, teaching other subjects is not my specialty. If you primarily want tutoring in a different area, I’d recommend another tutor.

Q: Are you willing to come to my house to tutor?

A: Yes, I am. You can travel to me or I can travel to you. Let’s talk about what the best plan is for your situation. If I travel to your location, there will be an additional fee to help cover commuting costs.

Q: Do you tutor groups?

A: Yes, I do! When it comes to science experiments, it is especially nice to have a friend doing it with you. Please contact me to find out if a group learning setting is the right fit for your child.

Q: When do I pay you?

A: I accept payment at the beginning of the session. You may pay for multiple sessions in advance if that makes it easier. If there is a balance at the time of the session, that will need to be addressed before another tutoring session can take place. I accept cash, checks, and credit cards for payment. With the help of “Square,” I can accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. A surcharge is added to offset the cost of this service.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A:  Kids get sick, cars break down, and other unforeseen circumstances can disrupt our day. Sometimes, situations are out of our control. I understand that. If something like this happens, please contact me and we can reschedule. For known conflicts, please give me at least 24 hours’ notice before the scheduled appointment. No Call/No Shows will be charged a session fee. I am holding this time for you. Please treat it with respect.

Q: Do you accept online payments?

A: With “Square” I can send an invoice which will allow you to pay online. With this option, a service fee will be added and payment needs to be submitted before the session begins.
