High School Tutoring

9th-12th Grade

High school is where students start to become young adults. Career path searching begins, and the pressures of the academic world can feel intense. Each student is in a different place, so I create tutoring plans that uniquely fit my students’ needs.

Grades matter even more now than they did in the past. Teachers typically have larger classroom sizes, and therefore, less time for individual students. This is also the time when students “practice” taking multiple hour long tests, such as the Advanced Placement Exams (AP), PSAT, SAT, and ACT. At this point in their education, high schoolers are learning critical thinking skills while also preparing for life after high school. When it comes to this to this time in life, there is a lot on parents and students’ shoulders. With all that said, I would love to be an extra support for your student as they prepare for the next step in their journey.

Systematic

During the high school years, there is a mountain of things to accomplish, and everything feels like a priority. It can be overwhelming and difficult to know where to start. When I meet with students, I help them spot patterns and systematic steps that can make the process feel less overwhelming.

Organization

From the backpack to the notebook, organization matters. This is also true in math. The way a problem is written on a page is of the utmost importance. To be able to locate a mistake, a person must have the work written in an organized fashion so that checking the work becomes a more manageable task. During tutoring sessions, I encourage organization throughout the process so students can see how it will aid them in their studies.

Test Skills

For better or worse, tests are the way our society measures proficiency. Many professions that require a license also require a test to obtain that license. As I tutor, I provide helpful tips that assist students with improving their test taking skills.
